Huge collection of records and memorabilia from BBC archives comes to auction

Merseyside auction house Omega Auctions will offer a collection of vinyl records, music memorabilia and equipment from the BBC.

The 285,000 duplicate items will be offered at auction with the money raised to fund the digitisation of its content archive. The first of the BBC Archives sale will be held on January 30 with more than 400 lots offered.

Bowie buy
Estimated at £300-400 is this scarce, original 1971 UK stereo LP pressing of The Man Who Sold The World by David Bowie. Features the iconic original 'dress sleeve' and misspelt Tony Visconti label credit, his first name incorrectly printed as 'Tonny'. Guide at £200-400 is this original BBC used panel board from a 'Type B' broadcasting console. As per info tag affixed to item this console was used in studio '8A' at Broadcasting House.
