Here are five examples of Mid-century modern design at auction this month.

Eames chair

Nothing says Mid-century modern more than a chair designed by Charles & Ray Eames.

This c.1970 lounge chair and ottoman designed by Charles & Ray Eames and produced by Herman Miller in leather, plywood and chrome with a maker’s label is estimated at €3000-5000 at Adam’s Dublin on May 9.

Anthony Redmile candlesticks

This pair of ostrich egg candlesticks by designer Anthony Redmile have silver plated mounts and are estimated at £200-300 at Gardiner Houlgate on May 11.

Michael Ayrton sculpture

This bronze sculpture, Serpentine Figure, by Mod Brit artist Michael Ayrton (1921-1975) is one of his later works from 1972. On a wooden plinth it is estimated at £2000-3000 at Mallams on May 17.

Gio Ponti desk

This walnut desk by Italian architect and designer Giovanni Gio’ Ponti (1891-1979) comes with a certificate from the Gio Ponti Archive and is estimated at €8000-12,000 at at Adam’s Dublin on May 9.
