Give your true love all the gifts from the 12 Days of Christmas

From drummers to a partridge in a particular fruit tree, here is our countdown of festive lots.

Five gold rings

Five gold rings coming up at auction at Bonhams on December 8 as part of a lot of seven rings estimated at £800 to £1200.

When Maria Carey began her famous Yuletide song with the line "I don’t want 'a lot' for Christmas…" she was clearly not referring to items sold at auction.

Indeed, on thesaleroom.com you can find plenty of lots for Christmas - and certainly more than enough to make Ms Carey's dream come true.

So we decided to see if we could find everything mentioned in the well-known carol, The 12 Days of Christmas.

Here is our not-too-serious list of items coming up for sale based on the lyrics of the carol. They illustrate the vast range of what you can find online at auction in the coming days.

Drummers drumming

A cigarette card

A collectable cigarette card from WD & HO Wills.

This drummer features on a cigarette card to be offered at James & Sons in Fakenham on December 7-8.

Pipers piping

A decorated vase

A vase with 11 pipers gleefully piping out their tune. Nice.

On this Moorcroft vase you can find 11 pipers piping. It is estimated at £85-£170 at Potteries Auctions on December 10-11.

Lords a leaping

A book about cricket

You might be the one leaping with delight if you bid on and win this book about Lord's.

This book about cricket ground Lord's by Stephen Green is estimated at £14-18 at Chaucer Auctions on December 10.

Ladies dancing

A bronze model of a ballerina

She's a lady, she's dancing. What's not to like?

This bronze statue by Lorna Adamson is estimated at £600-£700 at Duggleby Stephenson on December 09.

Maids a milking

A picture of a milkmaid

She might not be doing any milking right now but she's definitely a milkmaid.

This watercolour on paper picture of a milkmaid is signed 'I Kirkpatrick. 94'. It is on offer for £200 to £400 at Cheffins on December 8-9.

Swans a swimming

A picture of some swans

So close! Six, not seven, swans swimming in this lovely picture. Maybe the seventh is just out of view, hurrying back to its family.

This oil on canvas entitled 'Swans and Cygnets' is by British artist Fred Aris. It is estimated at £100-£150 at Richard Winterton on December 6-7.

Geese a laying

A vase

A vase featuring six geese laying eggs and generally looking quite pleased with themselves.

Like the pipers piping vase, this one of six geese laying is from the Moorcroft 12 days of Christmas series. It is estimated at £75-£150 at Potteries Auctions on December 10-11.

Gold rings

Five gold rings with gemstones

Five 18 carat gold rings

This lot of five gold rings is estimated at £375-£425 at Lockdales on December 8-9.

There is always plenty of jewellery on thesaleroom.com. You can search for more gold rings to find other lots of interest.

Calling birds

A bronze sculpture of four birds

A bronze sculpture of four birds, some of which appear to be calling.

This bronze sculpture featuring four birds is by Hans Ischinger (1891-1927).

It is estimated at £100-£150 at Mallams on December 8-9.

French hens

A picture of three hens

Three hens, probably not French, but let's not allow details to get in the way at this stage, we were doing so well, weren't we?

OK, we couldn’t find any French hens but we did find three hens in a picture by German artist Ramona Schnekenburger who now lives and works in Austria.

The estimate at Kinsky in Vienna on December 14-17 is 2500-5000.

Turtle doves

Two taxidermy turtle doves

A late Victorian cased pair of European turtle doves.

These two taxidermy turtle doves have an estimate of £150-250 at Tennants on December 8.

And a partridge in a pear tree

An envelope and a stamp

A Christmas stamp from Christmas Island, so called because Captain William Mynors named it on 25 December 1643.

In this lot at Ryedale on December 4, you will get not only a partridge in a pear first day cover from Christmas Island but the whole 12 days of Christmas - 12 stamps on 12 first day covers.

The estimate is a very attractive £30-50.
