The classiest fireplaces have large mirrors above and Halls will offer this Victorian gilt gesso over mantel mirror on September 16. Measuring 4ft 3in x 5ft 1in (1.31 x 1.58m) it is estimated at £400-600.

This set of brass fire irons date to the late 19th century to early 20th century comprising a shovel, a poker, and a set of tongs, with ring-cast handles. They are offered with a pair of brass shoe fireplace ornaments with an estimate of £250-350 at Lyon & Turnbull's sale running from September 2-3.

Fireplace ornamentation
Still in need of a makeover for your fireplace? At Rogers Jones on September 12 this 19th century ornamentation for above the fireplace is on offer. It was made c.1820-40 in the Ogwen Valley of Gwynedd and measures 5ft 2in x 6in.
