Four of the most viewed Seiko watches coming up for sale soon
13 March 2020 Seiko is among the most searched-for watch brands on thesaleroom.com.Although it may not enjoy the same level of prestige among specialist collectors as Swiss makers such as Rolex or Patek Philippe, its watches are of good quality and are much more affordable.
A basic second-hand Seiko at auction can be picked up for £40-£60 depending on factors such as condition. You can use thesaleroom.com’s Price Guide to discover the hammer prices of watches (and everything else) to help you know how much to bid.
Here we preview four more notable Seikos coming up for sale soon, all of them are among the most viewed Seiko lots on thesaleroom.com right now.
This Seiko Sports gentleman’s wristwatch is from the 1970s and has the sort of orange dial that nobody could fail to notice. It carries an estimate of £100-£150 at Special Auction Services of Newbury on 19 March.
Also at Special Auction Services of Newbury on 19 March is this Seiko Navigator Timer. It, too, is estimated at £100-150.
When a watch is described as ‘Pepsi’ it means it has the blue and red colours that might remind you of the Pepsi soft drink brand. This Seiko’s bezel (the ring holding the cover of a watch face in position) shows off its Pepsi colours nicely and the estimate of £100-200 reflects the wear and tear you can see in the photograph and in the auction house’s lot description. It is up for sale at Bolton Auction Rooms on March 23.
At the higher end of the price range is this gentleman’s Seiko professional 300m diver’s wrist watch. Seiko began making diver’s watches in 1965 and this model dates from around 1969. It is estimated at £4000-5000 in Watches of Knightsbridge’s auction on March 28.
