French Art Deco hall stand
Made in the 1930s, the rare French Art Deco wall stand is surmounted by a luggage rack with coat hooks and has a triangular bevelled glass mirror plate flanked by rows of concentric circles. The break-front shaped base has removable metal liners for umbrellas. The impressive piece is estimated at £1200-1800 at Chiswick Auctions’ sale of January 21.

Victorian overmantel mirror
This large Victorian gilt framed overmantel mirror, c.1860, was made by Charles Nosotti, and bears a trade label for his Oxford Street shop. Nosotti was originally from Milan but settled in Westminster as early as 1831. Primarily a carver and gilder, his firm is known as a looking-glass manufactory. The mirror has an estimate of £400-600 at Chiswick Auctions’ sale of January 13.

Mirror with japanned frame
Although it was probably made in the late 19th or early 20th century, this mirror is made in the manner of an older, 18th century piece. Its black and red frame was made with a technique known as ‘japanning’, which is used to make pieces look like they were made in Japan. The decorative border includes flowers and foliage. It is offered with an estimate of £200-300 at Woolley & Wallis on January 8.

This Regency giltwood convex wall mirror by Thomas Fentham (1771-1801) is included in Woolley & Wallis’ auction of January 8. It features an eagle and rock work surmount and is estimated at £200-300. It is offered with a printed paper trade level to the back.
