Cool furniture and ‘cutting edge’ art on offer at upcoming auction

Here is our pick of five lots that caught our eye to give you a flavour of what’s on offer.
1. Zataku Coffee Table
This Zataku coffee table designed in 1959 by Saburo Inui (1911-91) is made from Japanese elm, plywood and bleached Indian rosewood. It was manufactured by Tendo Mokko in Japan and measures 4ft (1.22m) long.

2. Abstract acrylic pictures
These two pictures by British artist Nick Bodimeade (b.1957) entitled Compositions date from 1982. The signed and dated acrylics on canvas both come in artist's painted wooden frames.
Offered as a single lot, they are estimated at £600-800.

3. ‘Cutting Edge’ marble
A Peter Hayes (b.1946) marble tilted Cutting Edge from 2014 is among the lots on offer at the Modern Made sale. Signed and dated to the slate base, it is estimated at £1000-1500.

4. Danish Crate Chairs
This pair of beech and plywood ‘Crate’ chairs was created in 1982 by Danish designer Bernt Petersen (1937-2017) and made by Carl Hansen, with the artist Ib Geertsen re-sponsible for the distinctive colouring.
Measuring 2ft 5in (74cm) high, they are estimated at £500-700.

5. Magdalene Odundo vessel
Among the lots at the upper end of the price-scale at the Lyon & Turnbull sale is this piece of stoneware titled Early Vessel by Dame Magdalene Odundo (b.1950). The vessel was made by Odundo in her final year at West Surrey College of Art & Design (now the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham) in 1976, and is an important transitional work marking the beginning of Odundo's desire to make individual work as opposed to production pottery.
Measuring 9in (23cm) high, it is estimated at £10,000-20,000.
