Bring a bit of sparkle to your life with Bonhams' antique jewellery sale
08 October 2021 Bonhams is offering 260 lots of antique jewellery from a UK private collection put together during the 20th century.The Hercules Collection Part II will be offered on October 14 at Bonhams without reserve. The first part of the sale, largely cameos and intaglios from ancient Egypt, ancient Rome, and the Sasasian Empire (hence the moniker Hercules) was offered in September 2020 at Bonhams and was 100% sold.
Here is a selection of five lots from the upcoming auction.
1. Flower necklace
This c.1900 peridot, tourmaline, aquamarine and seed pearl necklace (above) has an estimate of £1500-2000. It features an oval-cut pink tourmaline and circular-cut aquamarine flower drop on a 14.5in (37.2cm) chain.
2. Diamond ring
Old brilliant-cut diamonds feature in this 19th century diamond cluster ring with an estimate of £400-600. It is ring size L.
3. Georg Jensen silver brooches
Included in this lot of five silver brooches are two Danish examples by designer Georg Jensen. One depicts a bird within a circular frame with UK import marks for Georg Jensen, London 1955 and the second features two birds within a polished circular frame also with UK import marks for Georg Jensen, London 1950.
The other brooches are an Art Deco stylised golfer (c.1930) and two leaping unicorns. The group is estimated at £300-500.
4. Malachite earrings
This pair of 19th century malachite cameo drop earrings are estimated at £800-1200. Each cameo depicts Cupid or Psyche beneath a dove and are mounted in gold.
5. Gold brooch
Castellani was the Italian jeweller who initiated the archaeological revival movement in the mid-19th century. This c.1860 gold ‘millefiori’ brooch is attributed to Castellani and estimated at £1500-2000.
