An early 19th century English School sampler, worked in silk on a linen ground with a prayer beginning, 'Jesus permit thy gracious name to stand...', and various spot motifs including a large school building and Adam and Eve. Woven inscription: 'Severn-side/Elizabeth Gwillim April 15 1825/H Richards Governess'. 15in. x 12in. 38cm. x 30cm. Framed and glazed. Extensive insect damage, even time staining.
