A Fabulous 17th Century Stumpwork Embroidery worked in coloured & metallic threads and enriched with mica, spangles and tiny beads, depicting a lady serenading a gentleman with a lute to the centre beneath a bower of entwined roses and fruiting vine, a man spearing a whale to the foreground, and leopard & stag in the bottom corners and castles in top corners. The ivory silk ground interspersed with animals, insects and floral sprigs, 12 ins x 16½ ins (30 cms x 42 cms), framed 17 ins x 21½ ins (43 cms x 55 cms).* ]
