A striking antique mirror with a highly ornate gilded frame featuring intricate floral and acanthus leaf designs. The mirror is accented with a velvet red inner border that beautifully contrasts with the gold frame. The frame dimensions are approximately 80 cm x 68 cm, making it a substantial decorative piece for any room. The gilding, though showing some natural age-related wear, retains its elegance and adds to the charm of this antique piece. Details about the frame and mirror: The style of the frame suggests it dates back to the Victorian or Edwardian era, characterized by its opulent decoration and craftsmanship. The beveled glass mirror enhances its luxurious appearance, adding depth and elegance to its reflection. The construction and detailing point to a high-quality artisan production. Backstory: The reverse of the mirror contains an old paper lining, which appears to include German text printed in Fraktur font, commonly used in the 19th century. The mention of "Kammer" (room) and "St?cke" (pieces) suggests it might have been part of an inventory or a catalog page, potentially dating the mirror’s backing to the mid-to-late 19th century. This historical aspect adds provenance and authenticity to the piece. Condition: The frame shows signs of wear and minor chips consistent with its age, which contribute to its antique character. The mirror glass is intact, with slight imperfections typical of older glass, such as faint foxing. Styling: This mirror would make a perfect focal point in a traditional or eclectic interior design, offering both functionality and timeless elegance. It could enhance a hallway, living room, or bedroom with its historical charm and craftsmanship.
