The Ladykillers (1955) . Original British poster . Artist: Reginald Mount (1906-1979). . Unframed: 22 x 28 in. (56 x 71 cm). Framed: 28 x 34 1/4 in. (71.1 x 87 cm). . Paper backed and conservation framed with UV plexiglass. . Most film posters were designed in house by studio artists and designers. However, throughout the 40s and 50s Ealing Studios broke the mould by adopting an ambitious and inventive approach to poster design. Headed by S. John Woods, a formidable graphic designer in his own right, the Ealing advertising department invited contemporary artists and designers to create posters for their films. . . Original British posters on this title do not surface very often.. . This legendary Ealing comedy was directed by Alexander Mackendrick, and stars Alec Guinness, Herbert Lom, Peter Sellers, Cecil Parker and Jack Warner.. . Excellent condition, colours remaining very bright, very minor restoration to folds and the cream border.. . Material of piece: Paper, backed on paper. Material of frame: Obeche wood, card mount and UV plexiglass
