It Happened One Night (1934) . Original US title card . . Unframed: 11 x 14 in. (28 x 36 cm). Framed: 16 3/4 x 19 3/4 in. (42.6 x 50.2 cm). . Conservation framed with UV plexiglass. . The image used on this title card is the best artwork from the US campaign. It is also one of the most desirable pieces from the 1930s.. . Exceptionally rare title card.. . This 1934 American romantic comedy was directed and co-produced by Frank Capra, in collaboration with Harry Cohn (President of Columbia Pictures). The actors include Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. Colbert plays a spoilt wealthy socialite, who against her father's wishes marries a pilot and fortune-hunter. Her father, unhappy with the situation, takes her away to his yacht, which she escapes from in order to join her husband. She ends up on a bus where a fellow passenger, Peter Warne (Clark Gable), a reporter who has recently lost his job, recognises her. Warne wants an exclusive on the story and give her no choice but to take his offer to help her reunite with her husband in exchange for him not telling her father of her whereabouts. This was the first of only three films to-date to win all five major Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay. This accolade did not happen again until One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) also achieved this.. . Excellent condition, colours remaining very bright.. . Material of piece: Paper.
