1fr. carmine, just touched at base, very good margins in other respects, neat impression and intense colour, paying the single rate via Suez with involvement of British ship -as confirmed by the endorsement at top- to India on 8 June 1853 entire letter to Calicut, superbly tied by petit chiffres "109" grid with corresponding Cannes c.d.s. at right, also neatly struck, red "PD" at upper right, Madras and Calicut datestamps applied on back; some slight wrinkles to cover not affecting the franking.
