French Silver Rosewater Bottle. By Louis-Marie Favier, Paris, 1871-1880's. 15 ½" height. Ornate base with floral adorned wide bowl, attractive tapered neck ending in an antelope head with small drip hole, this further linked by a chain. The Favier family, which operated from 1824 to 1976, were noted silversmiths particularly in the production of ecclesiastical silverworks, in which they were quite innovative -- borrowing from medieval sources and later incorporating symbolism and Art Nouveau. Hallmark of Louis-Marie Favier and Minerva silver mark on rim of base. 22.3 oz.
