France, Fifth Republic (1959-)1 Franc Gold Pattern (ESSAI), 1959, " La Semeuse (the Sower)", The observe features the famous "Semeuse" initially designed by O. Roty for the Third Republic(1871-1940) coinage. The Sower, goddess of agriculture, walking left while spreading weeds as a symbol of the growing wealth of the young Republic, inscription ESSAI on the left side.; rev. legend EGALITE, LIBERTE, FRATERNITE and at the bottom a wreath of laurels. Ref. Maz-2832b Essai Au.An EXTREMELY RARE specimen and most probably one of the rarest coins of the Fifth Republic coinage. PCGS SP64, the highest PCGS graded , ("SPL+ - almost FDC").
