Thailand, Rama VRS127P (1908) Silver 1 Baht Pattern (ESSAI), silver, Paris Mint, ref Baht variety A030-02, KM-E1. Obv bust left, rev. 3-head elephant ("triple elephant"), ESSAI to right of elephant tusk. Engraved by Henri-Auguste Patey.This Essai is a pattern of the adopted design for the circulating 1 Baht (whose official mintage is 1,037,000 coins, of those a large majority is believed not to have been put into circulation and melted down). Rama V commissioned a series including 1 Baht, 1/2 Baht and 1/4 Baht to the Paris Mint. However due to his early death , only the very rare 1 Baht was finally produced and put into circulation. A gem rarity pattern for any collections of machine-striked Thai coinage featuring the engraving expertise of the Paris mint ("Monnaie de Paris").Extremely rare. Only 2 specimens graded by PCGS SP64 and thus the highest graded so far.PCGS SP64
