Catalogue note
Overall in good decorative condition. In further detail:

There is some very minor wear to the gilding on the lower leaf terminal of the handle. There are a few long scratches to the body, some running across the chinoiserie scene and further occasional light scratching to the white ground and flower painting. Minor wear to glaze on handle. Small firing crack to underside of base. The mounts are of good appearance.

Cranfield University used non-invasive X-ray fluorescence (XRF) for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected, a result consistent with 18th century manufacture.
