oviform with short neck, decorated in iron red and black enamels and gilt on underglaze blue, with variously shaped panels alternately depicting ho-o birds among paulownia and waterfall-ascending carp, the shoulder with lappets depicting further ho-o birds and plum and kirin before stylised waves, the covers similarly decorated with karashishi finial, the associated cover with hanabishi and ruyi-shaped panels depicting hares
each approx. 63cm., 24¾in. high
