A pair of Sèvres (hard-paste) porcelain faux-lapis ground botanical dessert plates, circa 1824-1830

with the name of the flower inscribed on reverse "Muscipula" and "Tagetés étalé (oeillet d'Inde)", one with a label "67", with the blue painted double L, marks of gilder and painter, dated "30 oct 25P" and "19 mai 26"; we add a soup plate in the same taste, inscribed on the reverse "Palais de Vendramini" and dated "19 mai 26"

au revers le nom des fleurs "Muscipula" et "Tagetés étalé (oeillet d'Inde)", une avec étiquette au revers "67", marques en bleu aux L entrelacés, marques de doreur et peintre, date "30 oct 25P" et "19 mai 26"; on ajoute une assiette à soupe dans le même goût avec au revers "Palais de Vendramini" et la date "19 mai 26"

For a plate from the same service, see Christie's New York, 28 April-7 May 2020, lot 296.

By tradition, these plates are thought to be a supplement to the service given by Louis XVIII to the writer François de Chateaubriand (1768-1848) in 1822, when he was Minister of Foreign Affairs. This large service was delivered in four instalments between April 1822 and August 1823.

Par tradition, ces assietttes seraient un supplément du service offert par Louis XVIII à l'écrivain François de Chateaubriand (1768-1848) en 1822, lorsqu'il occupait le poste de ministre des Affaires Etrangères. Ce large service a été livré en quatre fois entre avril 1822 et août 1823.
