Sotheby's New York, Property From The Collections Of Lily & Edmond J. Safra, 18 October 2011, lot 93
Catalogue note
Fedor Lorié ran a successful jewellery firm in Moscow which was open from 1871 until 1917. It was located near Karl Fabergé's store, and occasionally fulfilled orders for the rival firm. Lorie's workshop was particularly well known for designs in the Art Nouveau taste incorporating enamel panels. The practice of combining various decorative surfaces and ornamental patterns exemplified the movement in metalwork and created an aesthetic that separated Lorie's firm from competitors.
