Catalogue note

Ancient Andean peoples worked wood ranging from the Early Horizon through to the Imperial Inca period producing litters, loom sticks, ritual drinking cups (Keros) as well as anthropomorphic sculptures of ancestor figures.
Such hieratically carved figures on tall bases suggest they served in an architectural function at ceremonial centers.
