each of lobed circular shape and molded with leafy stems, the stalk handle with two buds growing from a terminal, one, painted with a spray of flowers, loose sprigs, and a large turnip to one side, the other, painted with garlands of green leaves and red berries around gilt-scroll brackets, the center with a pink chevron band reserving a small sprig.

Diameter 6 1/4 in.

15.8 cm
Provenance
example painted with turnip:
Bonhams, London, March 8, 2006, lot 48

example painted with Hop Trellis pattern:
Barbara Leake Collection, England, bearing label;
Bonhams London, March 12, 2008, lot 219;
Albert Amor, London, bearing label

Catalogue note
It is rare to find this form of vegetable painting on Worcester porcelain and it is perhaps inspired by the contemporary 'Hans Sloane' wares produced at the Chelsea factory in London. A Worcester teapot, painted in this unusual manner and featuring the same vegetable was in the Zorensky Collection, illustrated in Simon Spero and John Sandon, Collection catalogue, Woodbridge 1996, p. 123, fig. 93.
