Jacket from the original costume for the Ballet Russe performance of the Polovtsian Dances in the reworking by Bronislaw Nijinska for the dancer Vladimir Dokoudovsky. With a label 'Dokoudovsky'. Striped cotton with ikat bands. From the estate of Pierre Rouve Vladimir Dokoudovsky was a famous ballet dancer and teacher who danced with many renowned companies, including the Opera de Monte Carlo, Ballet Russe de l'Opera Comique de Paris, National Polish Ballet, Monte Carlo Ballet Russe (under the direction of Leonide Massine), Mordkin Ballet, Ballet Theatre, de Basil's Original Ballet Russe, and the Danish Royal Ballet. When he retired he moved to New York where he founded the New York Conservatory of Dance with his wife the dancer Patricia Heyes, and taught at numerous renowned ballet schools, including Ballet Arts NYC and the American Ballet Theatre.
