Henry Pickering (British, 1720-1771) Portrait of Aaron Orme (1707-1782), Master of the Cheshire Fox Hounds Signed dated lower left, 'Henry Pickering 1769' In a painted stone cartouche Oil on canvas Coming from an old Cheshire family, Aaron Orme was a prosperous Manchester fustian manufacturer. By his third wife, Margaret Walmsley, he had 13 children. They included Daniel Orme, (painter and engraver), Edward (engraver and London property developer, as in Orme Square), and William (painter). Pickering’s style in this 1769 portrait is similar to that of Joseph Wright who was working in Liverpool from late 1768 to the autumn of 1771. Dimensions: (Canvas) 30 in. (H) x 25 in.
