Pair of consoles; Louis XIV style; France, late 19th century.

Measurements. 85 x 81 x 35,5 cm (x2).
Pair of consoles with a mixtilinear plan, with four legs ending in a conical structure, with a carved ornament in the upper area, from which a crossed structure joins each of the legs and ends in the centre with a rounded base. Both tables have the same design with a frieze at the waist and a carved skirt. The style is fully rococo, marked by sinuous profiles and decorative motifs. The Louis XIV style, also known as French classicism, was the style of architecture and decorative arts intended to glorify King Louis XIV and his reign. The furniture followed the earlier style of Louis XIII, was massive and profusely decorated with sculptures and gilding.
