The author of this scene has created an image that stands out for the sobriety and monumentality of its figures. He sets up an architectural scene conceived as a stage set, in which numerous figures are inscribed. In the centre of the scene, a man dressed in a cloth of purity kneels before an elderly figure who is baptising him. The sides of the scene are flanked by more figures, with the image of a seated figure, who seems to represent a monarch, standing out.
The artist places the main figure in the centre of the composition, which follows a classical triangular pattern. This makes it easy to read the subject matter depicted. The treatment of the colour, with a palette of bright, saturated colours that bring expressiveness to the work, harmonising with the subject matter depicted, is particularly noteworthy.
