Pair of glasses of pps. s.XIX.
Marble.
Later base, although the volute is original.
Provenance: old theatre in Barcelona (Las Ramblas). The glasses were removed after the last remodelling of the building (1990).
Measurements: 185 x 68 x 68 cm. q.c.
Pair of monumental marble goblets. Their neoclassical style gives them a timeless patina: the goblets, in the shape of tulip-shaped cups with an exvasated mouth, are carved with vegetal fretwork, extracting a variety of textures and qualities from the stone. The foot, with a circular base, is made up of different decorative layers: interlacing and foliate motifs, mouldings and gadroons. The belly is sheathed with a corolla of leafy foliage carved layer by layer. The handles also have grooves that give them an organicist appearance, and the mouth is beautifully highlighted by a precisely chiselled synthetic vegetal fretwork. Although the base is later, it is decorated with a large scroll and a finely carved scallop that originally belonged to the same piece.

INSURANCE INCIDENTS: Coverage for the value of the auction up to 3000 ? per shipment, if the value of the auction is higher, Setdart will send you a quote including the additional insurance. The insurance company WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SHIPMENT THAT EXCEEDS THAT AMOUNT AND IS NOT FULLY INSURED.
