"Saint Vincent and Saint Valerius before Dacianus".
Oil on canvas.
Signed on the back.
Presents original frame.
Painter referenced in the Encyclopaedia of the Valencian Region.
Measurements: 93 x 135 cm, 102 x 147 cm (frame).
Painter. Member of the Royal Academy of San Carlos in Valencia. He devoted himself mainly to painting flowers and decorating canvasses. Most of his works can be found in the Flower Room of the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia.
This same scene was depicted by Antonio Bisquerts, one of the most outstanding Baroque painters of the Aragonese scene in the 17th century. In his painting we can appreciate the influence of different styles, such as the naturalist currents of Valencian painting - Francisco Ribalta (1565-1628) being one of its greatest exponents -, the realism of Juan de Sariñena (1545-1619) and the Raphaelesque realism of Juan de Juanes (who died in 1579).
Due to this chronological coincidence in time and place, we cannot determine whether the work in question is a work influenced by Antonio Bisquerts, or whether, on the contrary, Antonio Bisquerts was influenced by the painting of Pedro Pascual Casado.
