The work reflects an aesthetic language in which various avant-garde movements and the translation of the history of art are expressed. From a new perspective in which the aesthetic transgression at the hands of Lynn Leland means the creation of an image with its own language and personality. Through the use of colour, the work offers the spectator a new vitalist aesthetic that merges with a technique close to geometric abstraction and op art that extends over the entire piece in a rhythmic and ordered manner. However, compositionally the artist has managed to create a completely harmonious image where the mastery of colour and technique achieves an expressive, vitalist and dynamic image that captures and creates a dialogue with the viewer.
Lynn Leland studied at Pratt Institute in New York and was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study in Europe in 1961, where she attended the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg, studying with the British sculptor Eduardo Paolozzi. Upon returning to New York, he exhibited at The Preston Gallery and A.M. Sachs Gallery in New York and, on the recommendation of curator Henry Geldzahler, his work was included in the influential exhibition 'The Responsive Eye', held at the Museum of Modern Art in 1965. Leland's work was also included in the following group exhibitions; Albright-Knox Museum, 1960; Brooklyn Museum Biennial, 1960; 'Optics and Kinetics', Ohio University, 1965-66; 'Multiplicity', ICA, Boston, 1966; The Jewish Museum, 1966 (works from the Harry Abrams Collection).
