Measurements: 100 x 75 x 4 cm.
The artist Giulio Rigoni lives and works in Rome. His artistic work is based on the search for a balance between classical aesthetics and a contemporary way of conceiving forms, giving rise to unreal images, often enchanted, suspended in atmospheres that suggest distant and mythical times, leaving the viewer the task of deciphering their meaning according to a personal interpretation. His art thus asks the viewer to strive to safeguard the poetry of the experience of mystery by searching within for the most appropriate sentimental chords.
Allegory is the recurring theme of a drawing that tells stories. Characters and sentient objects, all emerging from the kaleidoscope of an imaginary golden age, establish a silent conversation. Clouds, ships, towers and fantastic animals are presented to us with the intention of a semi-serious minuet in which Platonic idealisation is preferred to naturalistic representation.
From a technical point of view, it is an "ancient" language: a meticulous oil painting on wood with extensive gold leaf decorations. Over time, his research has extended to the use of new materials such as paper, brass and canvas, with the possibility of experimenting with ever new artistic suggestions, but keeping the style and intentions of his artistic work constant.
His work has been exhibited at Satura Art Gallery, Genoa; Pavè d'Orsay, Paris; Mamaart Gallery, Rome; Dakar Biennale, Dakar; Opera Unica Gallery, Rome or Stephen Score Art Gallery, Boston, among many others.
