This photo is from the 2015 Series "Monstrous Paradise" by Nobuyoshi Araki. The title "Monstrous Paradise" and the images arranged and created by him refer to how Araki sees and experiences life in Tokyo.This work is published by the European Cultural Centre in 2018 as Special Edition Book, PSAP #11 titled: "Monstrous Paradise". The title was printed in Japanese on the cover. This photo has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale 2019 by the European Cultural Centre.For the "Monstrous Paradise" series, Araki took a total of 200 different photographs, of which 122 have been published in the Special Edition book. Although Araki's photos are normally always printed in an open edition, the origin of this project dates back to 1999. Dutch artist Rene Rietmeyer met Araki at the opening of his exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo. It was not easy to get in touch with Araki. Rene phoned him in November 2012. By April 2018 the artist had created 200 images, referring to the series "Monstrous Paradise". Each image showed a very careful setting, his fantasies, a special way of presenting the stories so typically Araki.
