Trained in the field of Fine Arts at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, Manuel Cruz develops a symbolic vocabulary illuminated by neon lights with a nod to Street art, as well as involving pop culture through the appearance of commercial brands. Through his personal iconography he creates images loaded with messages and personal interpretations, giving rise to personal interpretations of society.
In his works, Cruz conveys the following: social life is a big lie. It has never been anything else, but what characterises our time is the hyperbolic dissemination of infamy, whether through social networks or through a mass media subjected, more than at any other time in history, to obscure interests: fictions are created and presented as certainties, and true knowledge and truth are obviated. It is a time of intellectual darkness and ethical emptiness, in which information lacks public interest, understood as citizen interest, in which we are saturated with yellow chronicles and irrelevant events. The fact seriously affects our socio-cultural reality, which is hypnotised by banalities.
The work of the artist from Madrid has been exhibited on several occasions at the Kreisler Gallery in Madrid, and has also participated in the Frax Foundation in Alicante, in the Just Mad art fair with the Up & Coming Gallery, in the Casa de América, and has also collaborated with international brands such as Sony and Ralph Lauren.
