Diptych made in acrylic, in which the artist arranges a whole set of brushstrokes that become a pictorial entity by themselves, since as a whole they make up the pictorial pattern of the work. The artist uses a rhythmic weave based on the touches of colour, which are contrasted with other tonalities, in such a way as to create a dynamic and expressive contrast.
José Luis Riera, better known as Pepe, is an artist from Madrid whose passion for art was awakened in his childhood. He began his academic training at the School of Architecture and Fine Arts, an education that has generated a breadth in the artistic production of Riera, who works with both painting and sculpture. Throughout his career he has participated in numerous exhibitions, most notably the Fifth Blanco y Negro National Biennial, held in 1978, where he was selected as a finalist. Two years later, in 1980, he took part in the exhibition of the most relevant Spanish realists at the School of Fine Arts in Madrid, and was also invited as a guest artist at the International Centre of Contemporary Art (CIAC). His work is characterised by an expressive use of colour, this being the main language of his works.
