"Little accident", 2007.
Coloured pencils on paper. Ed. STSAA03-06.
Presents sticker of the Salvador Díaz gallery (Madrid).
Sizes: 234 x 150 cm; 240 x 157 cm (frame).
Large self-portrait, in which the artist presents herself dressed in children's clothes. She is shown squatting, painted in the foreground of the composition and holding her finger to her mouth. The woman looks directly at the viewer and makes him or her a participant in the scene. Thus confronting the viewer with an uncomfortable situation, not only because of the subject matter or the contrast of seeing an adult acquiring childish habits, but also because of the use of a large anatomy and an expressive palette.
Stiina Saaristo is a Finnish visual artist known for her depiction of large-scale and small-scale drawings. She is considered one of the most original artists of her generation. Stina graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2005. In the winter of 2010, she held an exhibition at the Amos Anderson Museum of Art from 2001 to 2009 entitled Ein kleines Monster, the largest exhibition of her works to date. He uses pencil and crayon in his works. The works are characterised by grotesque exaggeration and humour. Her characters are often unstable adults and adult children, through which she depicts the life of a woman and the expectations and demands placed on her. In the words of the artist published in Arte informando "I think my work is about a sense of humour, about the tragicomicality that is linked to human existence. After all, life is in a way a great farce, with its birth and death, in which the body is venerated and which has associated with it the rituals and the terrible tragedy of the terror we feel when we have to face death or the decay of our bodies. Life is a continuous battle inside a cage into which we have introduced ourselves with the help of our environment". Art Informing".
