Property of a gentleman - Jan Frans van Bloemen (1662-1749), also known as Orizzonte - A MOUNTAINOUS WOODED LANDSCAPE WITH FIGURES AND SHEEP IN FOREGROUND AND A FARMSTEAD BEYOND - oil on canvas, 23.5 by 29ins. (59.7 by 73.7cms.), in later gilt frame - stencil mark, inscription & various old labels to stretchers. Provenance - Christie's, 14th February 1969, lot 95 (180 guineas); Earl Howe, Gopsall Hall, Leicestershire, purchased at the dispersal sale 22nd October 1918, catalogue number 1359, price £ 23-2-0.
