Reg. no. GOC 440
Frame no. XB.31.680
Engine no. XB31.687
Based on the pre-war B29, BSA's rugged and reliable B31 was manufactured from 1945 to 1959, its overhead-valve engine providing the basis for the renowned Gold Star. Produced initially with a rigid frame and telescopic front fork, it gained (optional) plunger rear suspension in 1949 and a swinging-arm frame in '54. A good all-round performer by the standards of its day, the B31 could cruise comfortably all day at 60 mph while returning 75 mpg-plus. Its simplicity, reliability and good balance of performance/economy made the B31 popular with police forces. Last on the road in 1976, this original and unrestored motorcycle has been running recently. It is offered with a V5c, an older logbook and an old buff logbook.
