Its superior power-to-weight ratio enabled H F S Morgan’s humble, three-wheeled motor car to outperform many a larger engined four-wheeler, and its maker was not slow to capitalise on his creation’s competition potential. A Gold Medal in the 1911 London-Exeter-London Reliability Trial with Morgan himself driving was followed by victory in the inaugural cyclecar race at Brooklands the following year, Harry Martin taking the chequered flag three minutes ahead of the field. Racetrack successes led directly to the road-going cars in the form of the Grand Prix model, introduced for 1914. The first Aero sports model, inspired by the Grand Prix, followed immediately after WWI. This three-speeder Morgan has not been on the road for the last 20 years but we understand that the engine starts and runs following a rebuild that included an overhauled crankcase and flywheel assembly. The rear main bearing was modified with thrust bearing for the clutch; the front brakes are Morris Minor and the brake cylinder is Marina. The electrics are 12 volt and with a Citroen ignition coil. The interior has been re-upholstered and the overall condition is good to excellent, due to its lack of use. It is offered here with a V5c and an old style logbook.
