1927 Austin 12/4 Windsor Saloon Reg. no. SV 9691 Chassis no. 38560 Engine no. S135IL Austin 12/4
Reg. no. SV 9691
Chassis no. 38560
Engine no. S135IL
Austin 12/4 Windsors were produced from 1924 and with the early Cliftons, were perhaps the prettiest vintage Austins made. In 1927 the engine capacity increased and later in 1928 the track became wider; the model lost some of its elegance at this stage. This is the second Windsor on offer at this sale and it belonged to a well-known car enthusiast. Having spent its early years in New Zealand, the car received an engine overhaul in 2008, work that included skimming of the head and block, the fitting of new main bearings and new white metal bearings and also a new cam chain. Following this work, few miles were carried out due to ill health and now the car is offered in good all round condition, ready for its new custodian to benefit from the work carried out. It is sold with a V5c.
