1955 BSA Bantam 125 cc G.P.O. bike Reg. no. FSL 208 (RLB 389) Frame no. BD2555230 Engine no. DDB
Reg. no. FSL 208 (RLB 389)
Frame no. BD2555230
Engine no. DDB 10215
Announced in 1948, the Bantam became a top seller for BSA, more than half a million leaving the factory before production ceased in 1971. While larger-engined versions came and went, the original 123 cc D1 Bantam in its updated, plunger-suspended form remained available until 1963, one of its foremost users being the 'GPO' (General Post Office-Royal Mail's forerunner) whose red-liveried machines-used for telegram deliveries-were a familiar sight on city streets. This example was placed into a collection in 2003 but it has received some re-commissioning work more recently. It is offered in original condition with its old logbook, a workshop manual, a G.P.O. handbook and a file containing various paperwork.
