Pair: Corporal W. C. Wayman, 1st Battalion, King’s Royal Rifle Corps, a survivor from the Warren Hastings wreck, who was killed in action whilst attached to the Mounted Infantry at Gun Hill, Bakenlaagte, 30 October 1901

Rifle Corps); Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 6 clasps, Talana, Defence of Ladysmith, Orange Free State, Laing’s Nek, Belfast, South Africa 1901, last clasp loose on riband (5981 Corpl: W. Wayman. William C. Wayman was a native of Offord Cluny, Cambridgeshire. He attested for the King’s Royal Rifle Corps in September 1890, and served with the 1st Battalion in India from the following year, and was engaged in the Relief of Chitral. Wayman then served in Mauritius, January 1897-January 1899. His transfer from India to Mauritius was not without incident, as Wayman, a member of ‘G’ Company, 1st Battalion K.R.R.C., was a survivor from the troopship Warren Hastings when she ran aground and was wrecked off the Island of Reunion, on 14 January 1897. Wayman served with the 1st Battalion K.R.R.C. Mounted Infantry during the Second Boer War. He advanced to Corporal, and served in Sergeant Ashfield’s section as part of No. 1 Company, 25th Mounted Infantry Battalion.
Corporal Wayman was killed in action on Gun Hill, Bakenlaagte, 30 October 1901. He is buried in the Primrose Garden Cemetery, South Africa, and commemorated on the Boer War Memorial in Huntingdon.

If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
