An 1880s American Watch Co., size 18, open face pocket watch, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds dial, the gilt, full-plate, 11 jewel movement signed "Appleton Tracy & Co. - Waltham, Mass.", numbered 2205209, in Ezra C. Fitch patent dustproof silver case with screw-down crown, stamped 'Coin'. Accepted as the World's first dustproof watch.
In about very fine (aVF) condition, milling on bezel worn. Runs freely.
