An 1880s American Watch Co., size 18, pocket watch, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds dial, the gilt, full-plate, 11 jewel hunting movement signed "Wm. Ellery - Waltham, Mass.", numbered 1863493, in Ezra C. Fitch patent dustproof silver case with screw-down crown, marked 'Sterling'. Accepted as the World's first dustproof watch.
In fine (F) condition, the case worn and slightly dented with age and use. Runs freely.
