Max Leon Moreau (1902-1992) Belgian Pecheur avec une Boisson oil on canvas signed lower left 81 x 60cm (31.89 x 23.62in) Provenance: Mawson, Swan & Morgan, Newcastle-on-Tyne (label verso) Private Collection Max Leon Moreau was born in Soignies, Belgium in 1902 Moreau painted in oils without having any rigorous academic training or having ever been to a school of Fine Arts. He has produced portraits of many personalities that make up the history of our century and has demonstrated his artistic sensibility in other areas.Throughout his long career Moreau exhibited in Brussels, Tunisia, France, United States, England, Bahamas, Morocco, Algeria and Spain. Moreau has been the subject of numerous awards and recognitions for Vermil Médaille de l'association des Artistes Professionnels Royale de Belgique, Médaille d'or du Conseil Européen d'Art et d'Esthetique ASBL and Deglumes Foundation among others. In late 1996 and early 1997, the City of Granada with the Cultural Center "The General" conducted an exhibition tribute to him.
