Description
An oak wardrobe in the Arts & Crafts taste, the moulded cornice over two panelled cupboard doors with three mother-of-pearl inlaid medallions to each door interior enclosing a hanging space formerly with adjustable shelving on a base with two brushing slides over two panelled cupboard doors on wedge shaped supports, 170 cm wide x 70.5 cm deep x 199.5 cm high
CONDITION REPORTS
There is damage throughout to the cornice. The interior has been altered with the addition of hanging rails. One of the key escutcheons is missing. On both sides of the two brushing slides there appears to be something missing from the edges. The square holes are empty and look as though they should enclose a block of some sort. The right hand brushing slide handle is bent. The panelling to the lower right hand door is coming away at the top to the right hand side. There are also splits on the panels themselves. There is some loss to the corners of the feet, particularly the left hand foot. There are water marks throughout the piece, particularly to the front. The edges of the front doors are knocked significantly. Both side panels have screw / nail hole marks as if something has been hung there previously. The front doors have various pinhole marks. There is also a hole and a faded circle to the upper section of the central support and just inside of the two doors as if there was a stop or something there previously. There are splits to both brushing slides. The whole piece has discolouration, etc. In need of a good clean and a bit of tlc. Heavy wear and tear conducive with age and use.
