Description
A Victorian coromandel writing slope, the top set with lacquered brass and mother of pearl inlaid scrolling foliate medallion to match the escutcheon, opening to reveal a fitted interior with inkwells and secret drawers, 35.5 cm wide x 24.5 cm deep x 14.5 cm high
CONDITION REPORTS
Whilst basically sound, has signs of wear and tear conducive with age and use throughout. Signs of oxidisation and/or dirt to the brass/mother of pearl medallion and escutcheon, though no apparent loss. Signs of denting and scratching to the surface throughout - see images for examples. Two cracks along the grain to the top. The writing surface is worn, particularly to the hinge area with some splitting and discolouration. The inkwells have signs of oxidisation, one screw top not working as loose on the plaster - see images for further detail
