oil on canvas, signed framed and under glass image size 40cm x 43cm, overall size 55cm x 58cm Note: Painter of exuberantly coloured small landscapes and still lifes, born in Aberdeen, who gained an honours degree in drawing and painting at Edinburgh College of Art, 1977–81. He was awarded a prize at Scottish Young Contemporaries in 1981; a Scottish Arts Council Young Artist Bursary, 1983; and Ruth Davidson Memorial Scholarship in 1996. In 1985 the Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh, published The Book of Job, text plus drawings by Walker. His group shows included The British Art Show, Arts Council tour, 1983; The Human Zoo, Castle Museum and Art Gallery, Nottingham, 1986; SSA, 1992; RSA, 1994; and Cabinet Paintings, Compass Gallery, Glasgow, 1999. Among his later solo shows were Paintings from Southern France, Cyril Gerber Fine Art, Glasgow, 1999, reflecting Walker’s deepening links with the Languedoc region; Firth Gallery, Edinburgh, 2000; Maymie White Contemporary Art and Cambridge Contemporary Art, both 2001; and Cyril Gerber, 2002. Lived in the Scottish Borders.
