Provenance: Dowells Auctioneers, Edinburgh, January 1956.
Note: Lachlan Mackintosh was a Scottish Merchant who returned from Calcutta in 1808 and became a prominent member of Inverness society. He fundraised extensively for the Royal Academy and the Northern Infirmary. His son Aeneas William Mackintosh was MP for Inverness Burgh between 1868 and 1874. Raigmore House, Inverness, was designed by Archibald Simpson and constructed for Lachlan Raigmore around 1810. The house passed to his son Aeneas on his death in 1845 and was demolished in 1965.
