comprising a Royal Canadian Air Force Pilot's Log Book, circa 1933-45, further documents include clothing cards, service and pay books, A Message of Welcome from the Secretary of State for Air, photograph of C Flight No. 2 Squadron, January 1943, photograph album containing various amatuer shots with aircraft across US and Canada, his Tone-Ray Scientific Anti-Glare Lenses Aviators in original leather case and inscribed with name and service no., ten maps (UK and Canada), RAF wings patches and a cap badge, further patches, eight stripes patches, Aircraft Identification guide, Glasgow Univeristy O.T.C. cap badge, and a MKII First Aid Kit (unsealed and morphia not present)
Note: James Deas was born in 1923, and was at the University of Glasgow when war broke out. He joined the OTC, before leaving University without graduating to join the RAF. Prior to joining the RAF, he volunteered for ARP night watches for bombing raids into Glasgow and the surrounding area. A notebook with entries discussing those watches, plus two further notebooks kept during his training at the Early Flight Training School in Assiniboia in Saskatchewan, Canada, are part of this lot.
