* KEN ROBERTS, BOATS AT ST ANDREWS
oil on canvas, signed
framed
image size 61cm x 51cm, overall size 78cm x 67cm
Note: “This iridescent pearl of a planet we live on offers much visual stimulation and diverse beauty. I am privileged and passionate about landscape painting, endeavouring to transform the two dimensional canvas into a portal, drawing the observer into an ethereal world of gratifying emotional connections. With that paramount intention, I have spent most of my artistic life learning what NOT to do with paint.” From the age of eight Ken has been drawing and painting landscapes. His student life included Advanced Printing at Stow College, Commercial Art (graphics design in today’s jargon) Painting and Life Drawing at Glasgow School of Art. He went on to be founder and Managing Director of a large successful graphic communications group serving industry in the UK, a career which spanned twenty five years. Ken has been painting full time now for 20 years. He lives in the iconic university town of St Andrews, Scotland, which is known globally as “the home of golf”. There are many opportunities for landscape painting in the inspirational county of Fife with its undulating hills, farmland, enormous colourful skies and the beautiful little coastal villages which often feature in his work. Whilst landscapes are the main subject, portraiture is also part of Ken’s portfolio having completed many successful commissions. His landscape work is in many collections throughout UK, USA and Europe. International Artist Magazine has twice featured his landscape paintings. His galleries include: Graystone Gallery (Edinburgh), Ieon Stewart Fine Art (Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire), Foursticks Gallery (Newburgh, Fife), Sproson Gallery (St Andrews) and Iona House Gallery (Woodstock, Oxfordshire).
